Two-Day E-Learning Workshops for Students at Community College for Girls, Shamasan

Under the patronage of Dr. Munirah Abuhammmah, Dean of the Community College for Girls, Shamasan, and full support of Dr. Samia Mustafa Abed Elateef, Vice Dean of the College and Ms. Iman Alqahtany, Supervisor of the eLearning, the eLearning Unit at English Department organized two-day eLearning workshops for students of the College. 

Ms. Fozia Zulfiquar, Coordinator of the e-Learning Unit at English Department, conducted the two-day eLearning workshops and presented a detailed presentation titled “An introduction to the e-Learning from Student’s Point of View”. She pointed out the importance of the e-Learning in today’s world. She introduced the students to the basic tools and the system of the Blackboard in practical way. Ms. Fozia gave training to the students on the effective use of the Blackboard tools such as Announcement, Course Description, Lecturer, Assignment, e-test, Discussion board, Wikis and Course Message. 

Ms. May Elzein, Coordinator of English Department, and Ms. Nida Al-Melhi extended their full cooperation to the two-day eLearning workshops and helped the students by translating the presentation into Arabic.

Ms. Qamar, Ms. Shabnam Khan, Ms. Sheila Sultan, Ms. Ikram, Ms. Iffat Jahan, Ms. Tahmina Begum, Ms. Ishrat Jahan, Ms. Siraj Munira, Ms. Julia and Ms. Nawal provided holistic supports to make the workshops a success.

"e-Learning Orientation Session for Freshers" conducted at College of Science and Arts,Balqarn (Boys Campus)

Under the patronage of  Dr. Abdur Rahman Al-Qarni, Dean of the College ,Vice Dean Mr.Saeed Ali Asiri College of Science and Arts ,Balqarn Campus an orientation session for freshers on November 19 and 23, 2014. 

Mr. Saeed Ali Aseery, Vice-Dean of the faculty,Mr Saad Abdullah Al-Qarni,Head of English Department,Mr. Oomar Abdul Mouti, Head of Computer Science, Mr. Sari Masarqa, Coordinator, Department of English, appreciated the efforts of the E-Learning Unit. They extended full support and guidance for making the orientation program a great success. They were pleased to receive students with a lot of enthusiasm and zeal.

Mr. Mohammad Mazhar Nezami, the E-Learning Unit Supervisor,discussed the necessity and effective use of e learning to new students .E-learning is an efficient method of education using the Internet. With eLearning you can access course materials available for students to study any time and from anywhere, in addition to interacting with them in an easy and effective way. Apparently, e learning has became a requirement for the foreseen educational process not only to cope with fast occurring developments in educational institutions all over the world, but also for its real impact on enhancing education and educational outcomes.



 

"e-Learning Orientation Session for Freshers" conducted at Al-Namas Campus for Boys

The unit of e-learning at Al-Namas Campus for Boys under the patronage of hon’ble Dr. Ali Faiz Abu Hashim Al-Shehri, Dean of the Community College and Supervisor of the College of Science and Arts at Al Namas Campus conducted an orientation session for freshers on September 17, 2014. The orientation session was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Rizwan Alam Thakur (Ex-Head of Department Information Systems).

Hon’ble Dr. Ali Faiz Abu Hashim Al-Shehri took personal interest in monitoring the orientation session for students and himself accompanied students to e-Learning facility along with other faculty members. The Dean of the college was also accompanied by Vice Dean of the college hon’ble Dr. Abdullah Mansoor. They were pleased to receive students with lot of enthusiasm and zeal.

In the welcome address, Dr. Rizwan Alam Thakur talked about the general rules and guidelines for students. While Dr. Rizwan delivered  lecture in english language, it was simultaneously translated by Dr. El Sayed Gad Ragheb (Professor and Head of the Department of Business Administration) into arabic language and communicated to the student audience. Dr. Adel Mohamed Habib Abouelmaati Ghonim (Professor of Management) and Dr. Ammar Anas (Ex-Head of the Department of English) helped the e-Learning unit in the conduct of this orientation session. The e-Learning pamphlets and brochure were also provided to all the participants for reference. A vote of thanks was presented to all for their support and special thanks were presented to e-learning Deanship for their kind support and guidance.

Name of the Activity : Practical Session for Teachers on e-Learning

Summary of the Session:

Mr. Usama Khalid, Faculty, Department of English, and Coordinator of the e-Learning Center of the college, started the sessions in presence of other faculty members. Through this session, he demonstrated almost all the major features of the Blackboard software and its ultimate goals in promoting e-Learning. It was an introductory session for the new faculties who joined the college in this semester. The session also included FAQs on some new changes in the Blackboard application, made by the e-Learning Deanship of KKU.

Summary of the Session:

Mr. Usama Khalid, the Coordinator of the e-Learning Center of the college, started the session in presence of students and other faculty members. Dr Abudulaziz Faghee, the dean of the college, has given welcome speech. Throughout the session, Usama practically demonstrated various topics on e-Learning. Students also participated in the session by asking FAQs on e-Learning. It was a brainstorming project for the new students who have been enrolled in the college in this semester. The session ended with a practical demonstration of a course taught and designed by Mr. Muhammad Reazul Islam, a faculty in the Dept. of English in the college.

“E-Learning Orientation Week” at the Faculty of Languages & Translation

Under the patronage of Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, Dean of the Faculty of Languages & Translation, the E-Learning Unit at the faculty organized an “E-Learning Orientation Week” for new students from Sunday, September 7, 2014 to Thursday, September 11, 2014. 

Dr. Ahmed Ismail Asiri, Vice-Dean of the faculty, Dr. Abdul Khaliq Al-Qahtany, Vice-Dean for Development & Quality, and Mr. Abdullah Al-Rezgi, Director of English Language Center, appreciated the efforts of the E-Learning Unit. They extended full support and guidance for making the orientation week a great success.    

Mr. Mohsin Raza Khan, the E-Learning Unit Supervisor, said that the aim of the orientation week was to make new students aware of the necessity and effective use of the King Khalid University E-Learning portal i.e. Blackboard. “The students were contacted in their respective classrooms on a one-on-one basis and introduced to the E-Learning system”, said Mr. Khan. 

Mr. Ali Alamry, In-charge of Students Activities, said that contacting the new students in their respective classrooms was a unique experience for him. He emphasized the need for E-Learning. He further added that E-Learning is very useful in today’s world for a better teaching and learning environment.

 

Mr. Abdullah Al-Zubain, the E-Learning Specialist, Dr. Khaled Mohanna, the E-Learning Team Manager, Mr. Jabir Al-Thebi, Dr. Mohammad Asif, Mr. Salahuddin Abdurrab, Mr. Eric Beer, Mr. Hassan Costello, Mr. Jawed Ahmed and Mr. Rizwan Ghani, provided holistic support to make the week a success.



 

eLearning Deanship participated in ''New-Students Program'' 2014

His Excellency King Khalid University President, Prof. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Daoud, in his word to the new students, has confirmed that the university degree requires arming the student with skills, knowledge and abilities acquired during his academic career to keep up with the needs of the labor market. It was declared during the celebration, which was organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs to welcome the new students. The venue was at the university theater. Al-Dawoud explained that the university, including academics and staff, all are in the service of the student in order to achieve University goals, represented in education, scientific research, and community service. He clarified that the University is receiving unlimited support from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince and the Crown Deputy. In addition to the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Finance, which supports generously the University budget. The University President urged the new students to participate in the various activities of the university that will indeed develop their skills and talents. Concluding his speech, he warned of engaging stray segments, and to be as one unit against such stray thoughts, after that the audience watched a visual presentation about the university buildings, including colleges, departments, centers, laboratories and supportive services, as well as gyms. Then, there was a detailed explanation about the regulations and instructions of the university, and what are the services delivered to students. The explanation was presented by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Merrai Habash, the Dean of admission and Registration, Dr. Saad bin Mohammed Dajm, the Dean of e-learning, Dr. Abdullah Al-Walidi, in addition to the Dean of Common Programs, Dr. Ali Al Omari. After that, the graduate Nawaf Al-Qahtani presented a message in which he spoke about his academic career.

The celebration was concluded by drawing a number of awards, after that Al-Dawoud wandered around the corners of the exhibition that accompanied the celebration. The tour included visiting the Deanship of Admission and Registration, Student Affairs, e-learning, Information Technology, and the Deanship of Library Affairs.
